DHD Project finally completed, gave the Demo today to Bala and now it is strictly Majors time …

Heya ! (Huh !)…
do not know what to say out of these two..
It is getting more and more hectic..First the VISA formalities( Btw , it is official i am going to France now on 10th May, got my VISA on 16) , the DHD Project(We completed out DHD project well in advance and the project was displayed in the open house(for which i had a complete nightout (the first one of this semester))  then the laptop breakdown(  had the worst time with my laptop since its two years of existence, would come to it) , and now 4 Quizzes , 1 minor and a presentation in one week only , with majors from 1 and then 3 days of intensive packing and shopping till 10…

Above all I want to go home for some time now (those knowing me well would probably laugh at it ) . Seriously , i want to get a break, a much needed break and i think i deserve it ,but alas..

Starting with the VISA, the process actually went very smoothly. I was able to do all the things by myself ( and people still call me a kid !! ). There was slight confusion regarding the health insurance but i guess , french authorities are happy with what I gave them. Talking about the France, i think it is going to be tough 2.5 months , not the studies but the food and language.( i came to know that 5 guys from IITB (second yearites only) are also going to Sophia Antipolis and would be staying in CIV only , so i guess i would have some one to talk to ). I have talked to my senior who went last year at the same place and he had to cook his own food !!! Regarding the Project , i studied about the topic and i had not gone 10 pages far when my mind was already full of doubts with no one to clear them ..

The DHD Project: It went  well. We did more than we proposed in our documentation and were able to get a big(really big) poster printed for it. We displayed the project in Open House and lots of school kids ( !! ) came to see ( actually , there were senior ones also but most of them were interested in 4th yearite projects,which were damn good).

The Laptop breakdown : Really long story, end result: I had to format my entire hard disc , and reinstall my OS.

PS: I started this post on Sunday and finished it for the sake of completion today.

PS: Went to Kailash House Day thanks to Priyanka , got something to eat there thanks to my own efforts ..

Things..

It is nearly three in morning, and this idea of blogging just came out of no where.( sahil, ankit and others are playing aoe and am on sahil’s mac , which is giving me hard time as it is difficult to figure out the keys, and the mouse pad is so large and even with the surface , that it results in lots of random clicks..)

Any way , a lot has happened in my boring and monotonous life (may be a lot of time has passed, so i have many things to write about )..Probably the biggest thing is

i) I am going to France this summers to have an internship at INRIA in Sophia Antipolis( It is 12 Kms from Cannes and nearly 22 kms from Nice { which , according to Sohil , is famous for its nude beaches ) The topic of my intern is Peer to Peer Data storage Systems, which appears to be very exciting, but i have not been able to devote much time to the topic due to Pl assignments and DHD lab projects. So , it happened some thing like this : On 3rd of January, Kansal got a reply from a professor , ” We have no internship to offer to ‘you’ ” , and immediately kansal got all psyched saying Why the professor has mentioned ‘you’ ?? and then i took the email-id of prof. from Kansal , but “Mujhe toh reply hi nahi aaya”!!! I apped for few more days but now with half the enthusiasm and then finally left it around 15th may to concentrate on the semester studies after deciding that I would be doing a SURA under a prof. here in IIT only. So , Katyal , Ashish and I got in touch with Prof. Sandeep Sen who agreed to supervise in Cache Oblivious Algorithms. We had to submit our SURA proposal on 28th February and  on 27 th night we decided to make the proposal(The last minute deadline syndrome is now deeply rooted inside me ). So after my dinner , i went to my room , and my gmail notified me of one mail , which had contents some ting like this

PS: Do you know , that going from India to France would take about 6 hours , whereas from France to India, it would take about 11 hours !! These timings on my tickets bamboozled me for a good 20 mins , before i was able to solve the thing( with the help of uppal of course)
