Farewell Letter..

Hello Mascotte ,
On one of these recent days, I was thinking about my entire internship and
how I have loved every moment of my stay here. There were so many things
to learn about everything, whether it is people here, or the workplace at
INRIA or adjusting in France without knowing French . I wanted to give
a presentation on the small work I did here, but got quite busy in the
last few days of the internship(Thanks to Fred ). Anyways, here is some
fun for you all..

Next time If I come here (I hope , I would..) , I would ..

1. Once again play in the Jeux De Sophia and win the Football’s
Tournament..
2. Improve Ignasi’s timings in the Cart Racing..
3. Solve the Rubik’s cube faster than Dorian..( and speak his name as
Dohhian.. )
4. Make Napo eat vegetarian and spicy food..
5. Drink wine with David and have hair longer than him..
6. Go running with Julien at 1 in the afternoon and code faster than him
..
7. Definitely try to understand what Fabrice says at the lunch table..
8. Persuade Christiana not to move to any new place other than
Garbejaire, so that they can keep dropping me after the BBQs and
dinners..
9. Try to speak faster french than Nathan..
10. Play at least some instrument in Luc’s band..
11. Hope Stephane would have quit smoking by that time and also I hope to
see Stephane in full pants some day.and I believe that no one can write
better than Stephane . I have loved translating what he writes in mails to
Macotte and then trying to make sense from what google translator gives me

12. Eat sausages made by Havet(the best sausage maker ..) at one of the
BBQ..
13. Have hairstyle of Carlos..( I know it is contradictory with my
ambition of growing hair longer than David )
14. Go with Paula and have a lavish dinner at some Chilean Restaurant..
15. Go with Judicael to Paris ..
16. Have my pictures clicked by Herve so that I can display them
everywhere..
17. Give some Indian Herbal Oil to Nicholas to grow some hair on his
forehead..;)
18. Try to be more healthier and taller than Christelle.
19. Make plans with Ignasi to go on a World Tour.
20. Have a pony tail longer than Patricio.
21. Ask for Olliver’s bike to impress all the girls in CIV.
22. Once again share a room with Issam.
23. Atleast talk something with Christian!!.
24. Always come with Stephane(miniscule) on his car in the morning ..
25. Listen to more of Syska’s anecdotes of his youth.
26. Spend some of my days in Joanna’s Nice house.
27. Hope that Patricia keeps paying me my cheques.
28. Hope that Jean- Claude would still be there guiding the team..

Last but not the least, would work with only Fred as a mentor so that I
can disturb him infinite times a day.I hope he has his knee operated by
that time..

Some of the numerous things I have learnt in France:
1. How to do a peck on the cheek with the beautiful girls.
2. How to eat virtually everything with your fork and knife.(I am still
learning this..)
3. How not to work more, even if you want to.
4. How if you are a pedestrain , you can slow down fast moving cars on a
Zebra crossing.
5. How you can survive on a full plate of FRENCH FRIES only.

Things which I have not not learnt in France:
1. How to play football.
2. How to eat meat in every meal of the day.
3. How to drink wine and numerous other alcohalic drinks.
4. HOW TO SPEAK FRENCH!!!

I have loved every moment of my stay here and it was pleasure to have
spend these three months with Mascotte. I can think of no other way to
have better used these three months…

Hi Sandeep, thanks for your message about your stay, it seems that you
won’t hae too much bad memories from France. I truly hope to quit
smoking and Michel annecdotes will be soon published (on the net anf
for free), i will buy a leather tough pant to protect me from the
bicycles/motorccles hunters that rule the world. We are currently
growing new knees for Frederic in the golden fish aquarium (we took
2-3 cells from patricio ) but he will have to lessen his taurine
beverge comnsumption anyway. We are also planning to underlock nathan
cpu.

Please don’t tell to any french official that your learned how not to
work more, keep this dark.

BTW: Napino (NApignoooh) promised that he will teach ou how to play
real football  and to ride girls on a scooter next time.

Chao Infocom2010..

After so much effort, after nearly spending every hour of the day on this paper, after doing infinite simulations to get the right plots, we could not submit the paper in this conference. The primary reason is of course Julian’s Canadian commitments.(I am in no way blaming Julian and there is no sarcasm in above line, If Julian was not present during my intern and had he not guided me during the intern, I would have reached no where with the python simulator and would have never shifted to Unix.. He is too good with coding and one of my future ambitions is code like him ) Honestly I feel, that we had put lots of effort in the paper and by little more of it, we would have submitted a great paper. Fred had worked so hard on this, on working overnight to get the paper ready for the conference, He had already finished with all the theory section and I would have been able to give all my plots..but I think it was not to be..

Anyway , the bright spot is I can breathe for some time now. It was getting very very hectic, with IIT classes and then coming back and working on the simulator. So, I can give myself a break now and can just play with the other stuff , go out with frnds and enjoy a little before the IIT life start to be hectic again. Regarding the paper, Fred has told me that we would submit it in another conference(which would not be as good as Infocom), but still It would give us enough time to improve the paper and sort any shortcomings in the paper.

Leaving that all aside, regarding the other things in life..

I am taking only 20 credits this semester( rest all are taking like 23 or 24 credits, basically one more course). The reason being I am doing three very important courses this semester, ADA(I am not very good with algorithms..) , OS (I really want to do this course to the best of my abilities..) , MAL 250 ( Had I done this course before, I would have done lot of thinking in my internship instead of lot of coding )..Apart from these I have Microeconomics( had the first lecture today , horrible teacher( as in she was too pessimistic , cursing the Indians, their ways of living, their behaviour and everything that is remotely related with India ignoring everything about or social structure, how we are brought up in intense competition, how we have been told to always stay ahead by pushing the large number of people that are moving along with us, how this property oh individualistic gain over the whole society is inherently embedded in us(I am in no way praising our existing social scenario but I do not look at it from a pessimistic view, I am a guy who wants to stay hopeful and wants to see the positive aspects of a situation..). Anway, the fifth course is CEL 411( Industrial Waste Management , An environmental course that we have to do as part of our curriculum. I like the professor Mr. Alappat. He has a good sense of humour (I love people having a great sense of humour, Fred is on the top of the list). I think this course would not be too much of a burden, seems to be relatively chill..

It was great to meet all frnds in hostel and in classes. have not spend much time with them after returning due to the paper deadline but I think I can do that now..my whole body clock seems to have changed. I was one of the few guys in my hostel who used to sleep early but these days I have been sleeping at like 2 in the night( due to work as well as due to a stupid promise) and then sleeping for 2 hours in the afternoon ( Having 20 credits has some benefits ) and then again immersing myself in my laptop and Ubuntu vastness..

PS: I am thinking of buying a Laptop with 4 GB RAM and giving this one to my sister

Things tasted for the first time …

1. Tuna Fish( with all sorts of Ghass-Phoos ..)

2.Canard(That would translate to Duck in english , with I guess , numbu ka achaar..

3. Pork sausages..(They were good..)

4. Red Wine(that sucked …)

5.. A strange dessert (I do not remember its name , but it was the best part of the meal …)

End Result : I am becoming French…

(I have written everything below extremely fast , so there are going to be lot of spelling mistakes , grammatical ones , have not read it even once again …So spare me and continue if you want to..)(Remember I have not edited it even once , so someof you would not like it , read it at your own risk …)

It is 6:07 now and good six more hours still left before I am 20 years and 1 days old.
So , 20 years .. pretty old now ..:D(Though youngest in the team ..)
Who would have imagined on the 19th birthday that I would be celebrating the 20th one with Firangis (Meanwhile , i love my team)
6000 Kms away from home ..(I am used to spemd my birthday’s 120  and 208 kms apart from home but 6000 is a bit too much ..)..
Anway, have talked to Mom and Dad three times now , so i guess it is not that big a thing , esp. when i have recieved calls
from the most loved ones and also made calls to important ones ..:D

am supposed to start right from my 19th birthday and recount how the previous year went, what all happened that led me where I am and so many more things ..(I like Birthdays more than new years …They are quite specific to an individual )
One part(Mr . Jeckyll) want me to pen the entire thoughts down and Mr. Hyde wants me to think over it, and invesigate what difference would that make ..

I am feeling pretty free now (Fred is in Czech , so do not have much to do ..) so i would go with Jeckyll , thought I agree more with Hyde..

First thing is ofcourse studies … Strange year , went to the lowest sgpa to the highest , a drastic jump of nearly 1.4 ..had started to work hard towards the end of 2008 and that paid off in the next semester.I have become very lazy after coming here (sticking to my laptop most of the time looking at the pictures of various places i have been to and chatting all..) . I have to move from this lethargic state to an active one when I go back to the insti as probably the most tough sem is awaiting me (It is awaiting all the sophies ..:D)..

An internship in France at Inria ..pretty good ..a huge stroke of luck , apping to the right person at the right moment when there were so many of my deserving class mates (much better than me) could not got one(I am in on way saying this in a derogatory manner as they themselves know , that it was purely based on luck and academically they are much better than me ..)
I guess I have been able to do most of the work assigned to me but have not done anything remarkable so as to be really exuberant about it, but am happy that I have done most of the work and would be able to finish the internship well.
Inten in europe is always seen as a grand opportunity to see this marvelous continent and I totally stand by it. This is a beautiful place and I have enjoyed every bit of my travel here ..(That includes taking overnight trains so as to avoid accos. , having my passport and eurail pass not with me for one full day , seeing InterLaken with a Towel , a Garnier face wash , and a comb looking for three lazy backpackers , seeing infinite painitings in PAris and Italy meusems , seeing the most romantic places I have been to till now , talking with people of more than 10 countries now in person ..)I have loved every moment of this and consider myself extremelu lucky to grab this chance(Those who do not believe in destiny got to have a very sound explanation for all this ..)

Ohk , moving from Intern and studies now , to the social life..
Friends:(Parents and relatives are more or less constant , and i want them to be like that only…) have made some remarkable and strange(:D) friends in the recent years esp, in the past one year. Strange as in all are very different, have never been able to understand anyone of them fully ..I do not know , in the past year , how much time I have spend with Ankit and Abhinav(and to an extent Priyanka..), sharing their anecdotes , having numerous endless debates about anything ..Then there is my other group Ankit , Sahil , Pondie , Manish , Dalla , ravi , Shiva and many others(Sorry guys if i have forgotton some of your names , but i am writing this extremely fast …) with whom I love to spend my time (actually most of the time , yeh meri le rahe hote hain , do not know why !!!…) . The third group ,Katyal , Sid , G , apporve ..huh! I have lots of frnds!! and then there are beautiful girls  , Kalyani , Tanvi , Tanu (Priyanka , you are amomg them also..)(This is alphabeticall orders, so no raising of eyebrows..)and others with whom I have spend infinite hours of my last year chatting about nothing in particular and about everything in general (have never seen Tanu in person, but have spend quite a time on finding ways to detect invisible to find her on net , not met Kalyani in like 2 years (Even before that , “met” would be too vague a word..) , hardly met Tanvi in the last year , and have not chatted with her that much , only in last few days ..
I doubt whether I would meet them apart from my Laptop somehow …
There are various other ones who deserve to be here, but I am wrighting too fast now so would mention them sometime else …

It is almost time for the second last (100) bus , but I can take the last one and continue with this …

So, we are done with academic and social life (more or less with everything in brief) and time  now is to plan th next year (basically because, i do not want to miss tha last 100(That is a free bus from office to my hostel..:D))

Numerous Complaints against me , I am Kanjoos-Makhi choos , jerk , do not listen to anyone , always want to have my way , too proudish , too egoistic , become uninterested too easily …
huh! do not know , i can not say f*** off to you guys ( , like most french would have done ..) , nor can I say you are perfectly right , but yes , I would try to improve if you are more explicit in telling me the problem

Studies , tough sems next year , would try to do as best as I can ..

am a kiddo .. Tanu , Heena , various teammates have said this to me ..Comeone guys, I am 20 now  , would be 21 in one year .
would try to learn driving if I have enough time, but am pretty sure that am not going to start with beer or champagne or wine or whiskey or tequilla(Saurabh!!) or Martini (Nikhil..) and of course not the desi…

and having a girl friend!! tough chance , girls do not really like me , though I am open to any offers …

I do not really remember any more things , nor can I write more (My fingures are hurting now ..)

so , bye for now ..and yes , Happy Birthday to me !!!
